  • Andrews Grove Park (aka Shady Park)

    49 Ave. bet. 5 St. and Vernon Blvd

    Andrews Grove Park is a NYC Park and it was named for John F. Andrews (1896-1980) "to do honor to the memory of one active in the civic affairs of the Borough of Queens during his lifetime." Mr. Andrews was born in Long Island City.  Andrews Grove Park was originally set to be a school as early as 1900, but the BOE decided a school wasn't necessary!!

  • Friends of Gantry Neighborhood Parks at Hunter’s Point


    This wonderful organization of committed Hunter's Point neighbors cares for the trees throughout the neighborhood.  They have Cleanup Days and Pruning and Planting Days and they even leave time for fun at their garden parties and breakfasts in Gantry Plaza State Park.  If you are a proud gardener or even someone who wants to get started, reach out because there is plenty to do and lots of good people to meet!


  • Gantry Plaza State Park

    Gantry Plaza State Park is a 12-acre NY State Park that has been built on the Banks of the East River.  The Gantries, vestiages of NYC's manufacturing and shipping history, greet visitors to the park's piers.  The park has killer views of the East River, Manhattan skyline and NYC landmarks such as the United Nations, Empire State and Chrysler Buildings

  • Hunter’s Point Community Park

    48th Avenue between 5th Street and Vernon Boulevard

    The park sits at the Gateway to the Queens West Development and includes areas for sitting,three basketball courts, two handball courts and a small park for toddlers.

  • LIC Community Garden

    49th Avenue between Vernon and 5th Street

    Garden Hours:

    Wednesday 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

    Thursday 8:00 a.m.- 8:00 p.m.

    Friday 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

    Saturday 12:00 - 7:00 p.m.

  • Murray Playground

    45 Ave., 45 Rd. Bet. 11 St. And 21 St.

    Murray Playground is a NYC Park named for John F. Murray (1889-1944). He was a lifetime Queens resident and a recreation supervisor for Queens parks for many years.  This playground also has a dog run and a community garden.

  • Socrates Sculpture Park

    32-01 Vernon Boulevard , 718-956-1819

    An outdoor museum that functions as artist studio, exhibition space and neighborhood park for residents of LIC.  Artists exhibit large scale scupture and multi-media projects. Socrates also offers an extensive list of free public programs.

    Socrates is open 365 days a year from 10am until sunset
