    Housed in a former parachute harness factory, the 25,000 square foot museum is devoted to the exhibition and study of the contemporary art collection of Emily Fisher Landau. The core of the 1,500 work collection spans 1960 to the present and contains key works by artists who have shaped the most significant art of the last 50 years, including Richard Artschwager, Donald Baechler, John Baldessari, Jenny Holzer, Alfredo Jaar, Neil Jenney, Jasper Johns, Donald Judd, Sherrie Levine, Glenn Ligon, Agnes Martin, Robert Rauschenberg, Susan Rothenberg, Ed Ruscha, Kiki Smith, Mark Tansey, and Cy Twombly.

    Located in a converted greeting card factory two blocks north of Queens Plaza, Flux Factory is a professional, multi-use facility where artists make new work and present exciting projects to a diverse audience. Flux helps "artists who struggle to make their artwork in increasingly difficult economic circumstances."  Flux provides studios for 30 artists and exhibition opportunities for over 150 artists.  Flux also hosts over 50 events including open studios, monthly salons, workshops, show-and-tell sessions, lectures, film-screenings, and receptions.

  • Frank Sinatra School of the Arts High School

    Founded by Tony Bennett and Susan Benedetto in 2001, the school resides in Astoria across the street from the Museum of the Moving Image and Kaufman Studios.  It offers a specialized program in the arts and has a competitive academic program.  The state of the art facility includes an 800-seat concert hall, dance studios, art studios, recording and practice rooms and a film studio with editing suites.  Selection is based on a competitive audition and evaluation of academic records.

    This wonderful organization of committed Hunter's Point neighbors cares for the trees throughout the neighborhood.  They have Cleanup Days and Pruning and Planting Days and they even leave time for fun at their garden parties and breakfasts in Gantry Plaza State Park.  If you are a proud gardener or even someone who wants to get started, reach out because there is plenty to do and lots of good people to meet!
